Head of UNEP appreciates Russia’s contribution to implementing international climate agreements

Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Sergei Donskoi held talks with Achim Steiner, the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

During the BRICS Environment Ministers Meeting on 22 April 2015, Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Sergei Donskoi held talks with Achim Steiner, the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

At the meeting, Mr. Donskoi discussed progress in developing a pilot model of Russia's National Report on Ecosystem Services, which is one of the priority tasks included as part of the implementation of the agreement between Russia and the UNEP.

In turn, Mr. Steiner lauded Russia's contribution to the implementation of international climate agreements. "The BRICS format will allow for monitoring innovations that emerge far and wide in various sectors. Today, we expect the results of the ministers' meeting and are prepared to support all of your ideas, as needed," he said.
