BRICS culture ministers to sign a cooperation agreement

The BRICS countries plan to sign an agreement on cooperation in culture, art and cultural heritage at the Ufa Summit, South African Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa reported.

"This field opens up wide prospects in human relations, in what is called cultural diplomacy," he said.

Mr Mthethwa also said that the BRICS countries should improve multilateral cooperation.

In addition, according to him, Russia and South Africa are discussing the possibility of holding cultural events as part of the Bilateral Year of Culture in the two countries. Both countries are planning to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Ufa in order to determine a cultural exchange programme.
