Meeting of the BRICS Expert Working Group on Agriculture

On 12-13 August 2015, Moscow hosted the first meeting of the BRICS Expert Working Group on Agriculture during Russia's BRICS Presidency.

The participants discussed issues of cooperation in agriculture, including the development of agricultural technology and innovations, provision of food for the most disadvantaged population strata, adaptation of agriculture to climate change and prospects of promoting trade and investment.

In his opening remarks, Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sergei Levin said that relations between the BRICS countries stand out for their high level of mutual respect and trust. This allows the five member-countries to conduct constructive dialogue on topical issues on multilateral and bilateral agendas and facilitates the formation of a solid foundation for their prosperous future.

At the meeting, the participants endorsed the protocol, date and agenda for the Fifth Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture and Agrarian Development.
