"Russia's BRICS Presidency has strengthened the standing of BRICS while maintaining the informal, democratic and non-bureaucratic nature of the association. It has a positive agenda, never being a counterweight to anyone or anything," said Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, Russia's BRICS Sherpa, at a Rossiya Segodnya news conference.
Mr Ryabkov also expressed hope that the group's Indian colleagues would continue this policy and promote BRICS cooperation in various fields. In his opinion, India's BRICS Presidency will boost economic cooperation among member countries, with a focus on infrastructure and transport projects, agriculture, energy, and cultural cooperation issues. According to Russia's Sherpa, all these efforts will enhance BRICS role as one of today's network cooperation mechanisms.
