BRICS labour ministers to meet in Ufa

The labour and employment ministers of BRICS countries will meet in Ufa (Republic of Bashkortostan) in February 2016. It will be the first such meeting, Russian First Deputy Labour and Social Protection Minister Sergei Velmyaikin, who also led a Russian delegation at a seminar on population dynamics which took place in Brazil in February 2015, told the TASS news agency.

The Brazil meeting focused on issues relevant to all BRICS countries: internal and cross-border migration, population ageing, and measures to reduce maternal mortality rates, he said.

The next seminar on population dynamics at a ministerial level will be held in early December 2015 in Moscow under Russia's BRICS Presidency, Mr. Velmyaikin said. "We will endorse the subjects proposed by our Brazilian partners and will also work to expand the agenda to make it more practical, factoring in new global challenges," he said.
