Civil BRICS to make recommendations for the upcoming Summit

On 15 May 2015 a round table, "Global challenges of our time and the role of BRICS in ensuring peace and security," took place in the building of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation in Moscow as part of the working process of the Civil BRICS Peace and Security Working Group.

The meeting was chaired by Director of the Regional Projects Department at the Russkiy Mir Foundation and Executive Director of the National Committee on BRICS Research Georgy Toloraya and the Committee's Senior Adviser on Strategic Planning and Co-Chair of the BRICS Civil Society Forum Viktoria Panova.

The round table was attended by Russia's leading experts on global security. They presented reports and recommendations on the social, economic and information security and political stability of the BRICS countries, as well as disarmament issues and ways of enhancing space security.

The meeting produced a new version of the positioning document (recommendations to the BRICS Leaders), taking into account the opinions of the participants. The document will be finalised and its final version submitted for discussion by the BRICS Civil Society Forum, which will take place in Moscow in late June.
