Global Forum on Implementation of Social Protection Programmes for Food Security and Nutrition: Towards Partnership for Development

On 10 September 2015, the Global Forum on Implementation of Social Protection Programmes for Food Security and Nutrition: Towards Partnership for Development opened in Moscow as part of Russia's BRICS Presidency. Anna Popova, Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor), opened the event.

"Our goal is to create the foundation for our future work to effectively combine and introduce social protection programmes in the area of food security and nutrition," she said.

On the first day a panel discussion was devoted to the BRICS countries' experience related to the food security and nutrition aspects of social protection programmes in light of the commitments formulated in the Declaration on Nutrition of the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2).

The event's organisers and participants include Rospotrebnadzor, the World Bank, the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the UN World Food Programme, the International Food Policy Research Institute, as well as delegates from 20 Asian, African, European and Latin American countries.
