Approaches to create unified BRICS navigation system agreed upon in St.Petersburg

Participants in the BRICS Meeting of Twin Cities and Local Governments, which was held in St.Petersburg on 23-25 September, harmonised approaches towards building the unified BRICS navigation system.

Delegations from Qingdao, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, China, reaffirmed their plans to make their maritime navigation experts available to continue discussing this issue in May 2016.

The meeting also resulted in an agreement between the South African delegation and the Russian National Library (RNL) on a joint project operating under the auspices of the St.Petersburg government to publish rare cartographic materials from the RNL repository, with annotations in South Africa's six main languages.

The delegates welcomed a proposal to set up a BRICS seaport association.
