Narendra Modi: Cooperation between BRICS countries – an important tool in advancing a new world order

"BRICS can be an important voice in advancing a more equitable and inclusive global order," Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a TASS interview on the eve of his visit to Russia.

Mr Modi praised the significant contributions of BRICS to international finance and trade, the fight against international terrorism and climate change and to ensuring food security and sustainable development.

He noted that Russia and India are a driving force of a multi-polar world, because both countries actively cooperate in the BRICS, SCO, G20 and East Asia Summit formats.

"We can work together in advancing peace and prosperity in two major regions of the world, where we both have vital stakes," the Indian Prime Minister said.

On 23-24 December, Mr Modi will pay an official visit to Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. Bilateral ties in trade and economy, science and technology and humanitarian spheres are expected to dominate the Russian-Indian Summit's agenda. The two leaders will also discuss pressing international problems and cooperation within BRICS, SCO, UN and G20.
