Every new presidency enriches BRICS, Deputy Foreign Minister and Russia's Sherpa in BRICS Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with the TASS news agency.

"Collective work increases the chances for implementing ideas, and we value any opportunity to do so. We will continue to work in this spirit," Ryabkov said, adding that BRICS is "a multiplier of national interests."

The Russian Sherpa also said that "there are no elements in BRICS that could be presented as anti-Western."

"Actually, BRICS is not working against anyone. It is always pro and never contra, never a geopolitical counterweight to anyone or anything," Ryabkov said.

Sergei Ryabkov highly assessed Russia's Presidency of the five-nation group, during which BRICS has again proved its viability and importance.

He also said that the final report of the Russia's Presidency would be published in the next few days. It will include the events and initiatives that have been approved by the other BRICS countries for the agenda of the Indian and subsequently Chinese presidencies.

Replying to a question about the BRICS energy association plans, Sergei Ryabkov described the proposed association as a very promising project. He said that in light of exceptionally high volatility in the energy sector, countries should redouble their concerted efforts to stabilise the situation, and that the BRICS energy association could help achieve this goal.

"We are in consultation with our colleagues in the related sectors of the BRICS countries. The Russian Foreign Ministry will continue to provide political and practical assistance to the initiatives of our energy sector and the Energy Ministry," the Russian Sherpa said.

He recalled a ministerial meeting and a meeting on enhancing energy efficiency that were both held during Russia's Presidency and also the exchange of best practices in this sphere.
